Week Overview

Day 1: Opening & Fragile Ecosystems

The meeting officially opened at Lycée Provence with a welcoming address by the hosting team, followed by ice-breaker activities. Partners revisited the previous meeting in Lithuania and introduced the project mascot, which was symbolically passed to another partner country for the week’s feature story.

In the afternoon, participants explored Marseille’s Panier district, discovering street art during a guided tour in English and French.

Day 2: Fieldwork & Biodiversity

Groups took part in outdoor activities, including a trip to the Frioul Islands and the Calanques National Park.

Guided visits focused on biodiversity, protected species, and conservation rules.

Workshops addressed coastal plants, Posidonia seagrass, aquaculture, and marine ecosystems, linking theory to real-world environmental observation.

Day 3: Blue Carbon & Art

Participants joined the Blue Carbon Fresco workshop, an interactive activity raising awareness of climate change and the role of coastal ecosystems such as seagrass meadows, coral reefs, and mangroves. The session highlighted Posidonia meadows and their importance for marine biodiversity and carbon storage.

In the afternoon, students visited the exhibition “L’âme verte : When Art Confronts the Anthropocene,” exploring how contemporary art responds to environmental issues.

Day 4: Creation & Digital Skills

Students collaborated internationally to create a collective ecosystem fresco. Each group worked on a letter of the word “ecosystem,” using Canva to design posters representing the ecosystems of partner countries.

Later, students developed online questionnaires using Forms, focusing on artificial intelligence, its environmental impact, and feedback on the fresco. In the afternoon, groups conducted interviews in Parc Borély, strengthening research and communication skills.

Day 5: Culture, Reflection & Closure

The final day included visits to MUCEM and Fort Saint-Jean, followed by exhibitions at Palais Longchamps focusing on water, oceans, and biodiversity.

Students analysed questionnaire results, completed evaluation forms, and reflected on the week’s learning outcomes.

The meeting concluded with a graduation ceremony, celebrating collaboration, creativity, and shared commitment to environmental responsibility.

Concluding Remarks

The Marseille meeting successfully combined science, art, fieldwork, and digital tools, reinforcing the project’s aim to empower students as active, informed citizens.

Through international cooperation, participants deepened their understanding of ecosystems and explored how creativity and technology can help protect our planet.
